The Pineapple Club... Birmingham's newest bar review...

Updated: Sep 21, 2020

All you need is love, and cocktails... Definitely cocktails...

You'll have probably gathered by now I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur of all things alcohol and love nothing more than a good cocktail or six. So I went for my first nose around Birmingham's brand new bar 'The Pineapple Club' and I'm officially raving about it.

The Pineapple Club is located in the Great Western arcade which I absolutely love visiting. It's a beautiful building full of quirky independent businesses and the pineapple club fits right in there.

If you've been at home in your sweatpants, looking at pictures of packed pubs not taking covid precautions and your worried about going out, don't believe everything you read. I love the hospitality industry and desperately don't want it to fail. Since lockdown was lifted I've been supporting the hospitality industry as much as I can and I'm yet to go anywhere that hasn't been taking the covid guidelines seriously. It's your decision at the end of the day whether you personally feel comfortable but in Birmingham, since the end of lockdown, basically if it's been open I've been there and I genuinely don't understand where the media is getting it from. In the pineapple club there is loads of space for social distancing, hand sanitiser on every table, the tables are quite far apart and they are taking all of the necessary precautions.

As soon as I walked in I was immediately in love with the gorgeous decor, it really is stunning inside. Think neon signs, bright colours, loads of pink and the all important selfie wings. It's got a really chic, boutique kind of feel to it and it's so full of character. You all know by now your girl loves a theme and everything from the plants, the wallpaper and even the light shades is all pineapple themed. It's definitely a must visit and one of the most 'instagrammable' places in the city.

There's nothing worse than being in a bar, trying to enjoy that cocktail you've been craving all day, but all you can think about is how uncomfortable you are on the not fit for purpose chairs they've decided to fill the place with. The pineapple club has absolutely nailed being a comfy place to sit. It's all lovely plush seating and there are booths, high and low tables, a sofa and really cute seashell chairs that frankly I wanted to take home. Super important these days since it's forbidden to stand up. It has a really relaxed atmosphere, good music and is just a lovely place to sit and chill.

The people behind the place were lovely and couldn't do enough for you, They greeted everyone as they came in and we're really warm and welcoming. The service was excellent, everyone was super friendly and had a really nice chat. I love supporting independent businesses, especially when the people are just so nice, I'm definitely planning on going back regularly.

So... I know what your thinking... Come on Rach, get to the good stuff... The cocktails are TO. DIE. FOR... They have an extensive menu with loads of signature cocktails, as well as the classics. My favourites were candy club punch, tastes just like vintage sweets and it's even garnished with rock and ruby chocolatier, absolutely gorgeous, raspberry and white chocolate and really creamy. I also tried a Biscayne blue, The Don Jones and a Dubliner playwright and I must say I loved all of them. If you're in no mood for a basic bitch mojito the cocktail menu is really imaginative and I really can't wait to try the rest as well as trying the food menu and word on the street is that there's going to be a bottomless brunch ☺️.

I definitely can't wait for many a cocktail and catch up at the pineapple club. I've got a feeling it's going to be my new regular. Make sure you pop in and support this amazing independent business and sample the gorgeous cocktails. Definitely a welcome addition to the city centre. Thanks for the amazing service guys, the pineapple club definitely gets my sip of approval.
